The hottest ticket in town right now is an invite to Inbox by Gmail.

Most people don’t know what it is or does, they just want in on the action. But Google’s new service brings a steroid injection to your email inbox.

Google’s done a great job at fluttering up fanfare for the new service by restricting access to invites only. This is reminiscent of the early days of Gmail when you waited patiently for your chance to become “a cool kid,” or clamoured to find a friend who had some invites left.

Surprisingly, I guess I’m one of the “cool kids,” because I got my invite to join Inbox by Gmail. And shortly after joining, Google announced its Inbox users could share invites with their friends.

By then, even Mrs. The Droid Lawyer was begging me for an invite.

So I felt the only “fair” way to handle the situation was to tell Mrs. The Droid Lawyer to purchase an invite on eBay, and I’d give my three Inbox by Gmail invites away on the blog.

The entry rules are simple:

  1. You must have a Gmail account (I’m not sure if Google Apps accounts work right now, but you’re welcome to try);
  2. Simply leave a comment below letting me know why you want to become a “cool kid.”
  3. This giveaway is void where prohibited, and the ARV is $0.00.
  4. Only 1 entry per person.

You’d better hurry because I’m ending this thing at 9:00 PM CDT on October 25, 2014. That only gives you about 15 hours. I’ll notify the winners by email. In the event you’re selected as a winner and you receive your invite, you agree that you’ll waive your “winnings” so another winner can get selected.

Also, anyone wishing to make a $1,000 donation to the American Red Cross between 6:00 AM CDT and 9:00 PM CDT, can automatically receive one of the Inbox for Gmail invites. If that’s you, then you must submit proof of the donation to jeff at before the giveaway ends. In the event we have many generous readers, then the first 3 people to notify me of their donation will receive the invitation. At which time, the giveaway closes.

If all else fails, don’t forget that you can still request an invite by sending an email to

Good luck, cool kids.

I want to be using the must up to date email app. I live and die by email.

I’ve been scouring the internet for an invite all day but have come to no success. I just really want to keep up with the latest app!

Why do I want to be a cool kid? Um, doesn’t everyone want to be cool, that’s what makes it cool. :). It looks great, would love to give it a try. If I get invites I’ll pay it forward here too.

I´d to be a cool kid!

I was never the “cool” kid in school. After graduating high school 35 years ago, I think it is high time I was cool! Not that this will impress my teenagers, but I’ll know.

I want to become a cool kid so that I can help decrease the earth’s overall temperature. Help save the environment and give me an invite. 😉

I’m begging to be a cool kid!

My HTC One (M8) is no longer the cool phone out there with all of the recent releases. Having an Inbox invite would (hopefully) put my phone back in the “cool” category.

I hope Mrs. TheDroidLawyer gets an invite….

MTDL fortunately couldn’t care less. 🙂

Why do I want to be a cool kid? I see cool kids having cool things. I never was a cool kid and never had cool things.

Good luck everyone!
