Normally, I wouldn’t post fodder I received from a PR agent regarding a company’s newest app. And normally, I wouldn’t post about an app I haven’t tried, and will probably never try.

Saxbys CoffeeBut since I know there are a fairly large number of readers who consume a fairly large amount of coffee, I thought it’s okay if I pass on information about this new pay and reward app from Saxbys Coffee.

Of course, I know nothing about Saxbys Coffee, so I’ll let the press release speak for itself:

Saxbys Coffee and LevelUp Partner to Create Innovative Mobile Payment and Reward App

The Coffee Company Leverages LevelUp’s Technology to Treat Loyal Guests

June 17, 2014 (Philadelphia) – Saxbys Coffee (Saxbys) continues to engage and delight guests through their recently launched mobile payment and rewards app, which can be downloaded for free in both the App Store and Google Play. The Saxbys App allows guests to seamlessly pay for their orders using their smartphone and earn generous rewards for every dollar spent.

Saxbys’ goal was to make it even easier for guests to enjoy their visits. Now, guests can spend more time relaxing in the café and less time waiting in line—guests simply link their debit or credit card to their Saxbys App account and scan their unique QR code to pay for their order at Saxbys.

The app also includes a built-in rewards program which allows guests to earn $2 for every $20 spent. Guests will also receive $3 just for downloading the app and $3 every time they invite a friend to do the same. Unlike other rewards programs, all purchases—not just select items—count toward a free credit, and the credit can be used toward anything in the café. Drinks, food, coffee beans and mugs are all fair game.

“It’s important to us that we are able to provide the best experience possible for our guests,” said Nick Bayer, founder and CEO of Saxbys. “Through this app, we are able to give our loyal guests a simpler way to order and pay for their favorite drinks, while also rewarding them with the most generous loyalty program in the industry.”

As opposed to a standard punch card, this rewards program has an interactive appeal—with every transaction, guests get closer to filling a virtual iced latte cup.  The cup fills with ice, then espresso. Those who unlock the $2 credit get to discover what happens next.

Saxbys’ decision to build their app on the LevelUp mobile payment platform means that payments are processed seamlessly and securely. Guests can rest assured that their personal information will not be stored or shared, and an optional pin-lock acts as an added layer of security in the event that your phone is lost or stolen.

Both Saxbys and LevelUp are thrilled with the immediate success of the app, which already boasts four stars in the App Store. “Saxbys is a great brand, and we couldn’t be happier to work with them in the creation of this app,” said Seth Priebatsch, CEO, LevelUp.  “Our hope is that the app will enhance the already superior customer service that Saxbys provides to its guests on a daily basis.”

Since its founding in 2005, Saxbys has remained committed to offering a superior guest experience, community-oriented cafés and delicious coffee, Fro-Yo! and specialty drinks.  The Saxbys App is just one of many innovative products each café offers, including single-serve, fully recyclable K-cups and its own charitable bottled water, Thrive®. Thrive is the official water of all its cafés, with 10 cents from each sale donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters, a corporate partner of Saxbys.

Right now, I think there’s fairly limited distribution of Saxbys Coffee, with locations in Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Ohio, and Dallas. I’m sure the company’s looking for expanded growth and potential.

So, needless to say, if you’re a coffee fan (they have other items, too) in a Saxbys market, take advantage of this new rewards program. Everyone loves free stuff and money.
