My favorite “scanner” app on Android is CamScanner Pro ($4.99).
This well-priced app allows me to scan documents with my Android phone or tablet and convert them to PDF. I use the app all of the time to save on copying costs at the courthouse. The image is high quality, only hampered by your phone’s camera and your unsteady hand.
Recently, and this is my favorite part, CamScanner provided a way for you to upload documents to their cloud storage service at camscanner.net. This is great because now an assistant can log in to the CamScanner site and access the documents.
In reality, the process isn’t changed much from my method of syncing and storing to Dropbox. However, this process is automated, so I don’t even have to remember to upload or email my files. Plus, CamScanner offers a free account with 200 MB of storage space. For most attorneys, that’s enough free space to accomplish what you need. If you need more space, just like Dropbox, you can get a boost by tweeting, reviewing and referring.
Here’s an example of a document I scanned and uploaded/downloaded with CamScanner. CamScanner straightened and cleaned up the image before sending it to the cloud. Works well, and for $4.99, this app has already paid for itself.
CamScanner gets 5 of 5 stars.
