One of the things I noticed on my phone today was that the Google Docs Android App got updated. The Google Docs blog has the scoop on some of the real details, but overall, one of the big improvements is offline file capabilities and hi-res viewing for tablets.

These have been two of my biggest gripes about Google’s applications, and especially the tablet capabilities. My complaint has been that Google hasn’t pushed hard enough to design their apps to set standards for use on tablets and smartphones. They’ve been rather complacent.

The one thing I hate though, and Google seems more intent on driving this inherent development, is the WiFi-only updating.

I still think for everyday use though, Google Docs lags behind MS Word. In a pinch though, you can still do quite a lot with the program.
